Pretend you’re a tough guy

You have heard stories of people who acted as if they were courageous in the face of terrible circumstances and their courage paid off. Well, you can pretend in any situation you like and the good news is that reality, may never know the difference. Read the rest of this entry »

What do you want?

What do you want to achieve? No, be realistic. Right now what do you want to do? Read the rest of this entry »

Unlimited Imagination

Every person has fantasies, ideas that will probably never become reality. They may be about winning millions of dollars, or a business idea that rocks the world, or a beautiful voice that stuns millions etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Lots of problems, no time

There are so many people on the planet, all busy in their own little worlds, running back and forth, hurrying here and there. From a distance it must look more frenzied than an ants nest before a storm. Everyone is busy with their problems. Everyone has problems… or have they? Read the rest of this entry »

Creative spontaneity

Keep still life!

Life constantly changes. Situations shift, circumstances rearrange and new scenarios emerge. The days in your life are like leaves on a tree, each unique, yet from a distance all the same. (Wow, what a statement, that’s getting pretty close to wisdom, I’ll try and be more careful.) Read the rest of this entry »

You are already creative, so you think…

Whenever I talk about creativity to anyone, the immediate response is, “Yes, I understand, I’m creative also”. The person talking does not do anything creative. They have no interests or projects that are new, different and innovative, nevertheless most people will tell you that they are already creative.

If you are creative, you are innovative. If you are doing what everyone else is doing, if you are plodding along copying, mimicking and generally just getting swept along by the current trend, you are not creative.creative artist

Creativity takes courage. It is not easy to be different. You will be mocked, you will be called strange and people will not listen to you.

Generally, if you are creative, you are uncomfortable to be with.

A creative person is breaking new ground, there are no guarantees that his expression will succeed or fail. He is experimenting, like a little child experiments with sounds. They gurgle and sing and make all sorts of noises as they creatively try to find what works in this crazy world.

So if you want to be creative, be prepared to be an outcast.

Creative Artists

If you had to select an artist to do an creative art commission for you, which one would you choose?

creative honesty

Artist 1 – Trained at the best art university. Excellent knowledge of art history and schools of thought. Excelled in techniques and material knowledge in every field.
Not only that, he knows the right people.

Artist 2 – Completely self-taught. Passionate about her work. Refuses to listen to others regarding techniques and materials. Creates art in her own personal, nonconventional way.

Remember, we are talking art here, art is the heart, it is an individual and unique creation. A corporate trained person is a corporate trained thinker. No matter how talented they think they are, they know too many rules and too many reasons why not! They passed their exams, they impressed the system by conforming.

The heart does not need rules, it needs time and space in which to play. The corporate monkey has very little space because his head is packed with conventional teachings which is dogma masquerading as free expression.

The self-made artist has no idea what the system expects, he only knows what he needs to express.

You do not need training to be creative, intelligent and unique, you only need to be brave!

Creative ideas demand action

So what do you do when you get a good idea? Do you think about it for a while? Do you put it on the list of all the to-do-laters that you have hidden in your computer files? Or do you do something about it?

What do I do? I let it bounce around my brain for a day or two. If it is still there and it is exciting some passion, I start to talk about it and share it. If new ideas keep raining down to expand it, I commit!

This week I got a new idea and I did all of those things. Today the idea is in place and ready for action.

I love considering way-out abstract ideas on life. I do not like conventional philosophies and I certainly have no time for dogma. I love the thrill of letting my mind entertain ridiculous concepts and watching them twist and turn until they become imaginative possibilities. I have written a few short articles and produced a few DVD’s on these odd thoughts. (They have not been presented to the public as yet).

This was my idea: create a website that allows visitors to submit their own strange stories. Put a limit of 200 words (because we all have limited attention spans). Then go! The site encourages new perspectives on life. I won’t post any boring reruns or clichés. I am looking for new and imaginative, articles that take the reader into new ground.creative ideas

The moral of the story. If you get a good idea, do something with it!
